The power-hitters of the South African T20 circuit have been bringing summer vibes to the games and their fans have got behind them in big numbers. It’s a cosmopolitan league owned by IPL giants, studded with the best white-ball players in the world and played in brilliant sunshine on some of the best cricket grounds in the country.

To help teams get off to a quick start and dominate the match, new rules have been introduced in the Power Play. During the first six overs of the innings, only two fielders can be placed outside the 30-yard circle to encourage aggressive batting. Bowlers have been told to restrict the batsman’s run rate by taking early wickets and bowling with accuracy.
The top two teams on the points table after the league phase will meet in the playoffs, while a second qualifier and an Eliminator will be contested between third and fourth place. The winners of the Qualifier and Eliminator will then join the winner of the final in the SA20 champions’ tournament. The playoff venues will be Newlands in Cape Town and Wanderers in Johannesburg.
